Get a Library Card

Getting a library card is easy and takes only a few minutes.  You can start borrowing books and movies right away! You need to be able to show that you are a resident of Hasbrouck Heights. A driver’s license or another form of documentation is needed.

For children five years or older, a parent or guardian must sign permission and accept responsibility for all materials checked out on a minor’s card. The parent or guardian must present identification to verify address.

Eligibility for a Library Card

Residents of Hasbrouck Heights may apply for a free library card. Proof of residency must be shown at time of registration.

For Adults: The following are acceptable forms of identification with a current address—

o Valid Driver’s License or identification card issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles

o Bergen County ID

o Deed/ Mortgage

o Lease Agreement

o Tax Statement

For Children: He or she must be present and be able to sign his/her own name. The child’s parent or legal guardian must confirm residency with one of the above mentioned forms of identification and co-sign the child’s card.

The parent/guardian is ultimately responsible for the return of all materials charged out to the child and financially responsible for all fines and replacement costs incurred by the child under the age of 18 years old.

Couresty Cards
Anyone who works in Hasbrouck Heights and does not live in a town with a BCCLS library is eligible for a courtesy card. A letter on business stationary from the employer is required that shows the employer’s name, address, phone and states that the individual is employed by the Hasbrouck Heights employer. Identification with home address must also be shown. Courtesy cardholders may borrow only from the Hasbrouck Heights Library.

Paid Membership Cards
Individuals residing in a municipality that does not belong to BCCLS or is not a member of the open borrowing system may apply for a membership to the Hasbrouck Heights Public Library. An annual fee of $100 per person must be paid by cash or money order. Paid cards may only be used at the Hasbrouck Heights Library and it may not be used to borrow directly from any other BCCLS library.
